Kevin Aiston, najpopularniejszy Anglik w Polsce, showman, którego znamy m.in. z programu „Europa da się lubić”.
Urodził się 25 maja 1969 roku w Londynie. W dzieciństwie chciał pracować dla NASA, marzył by zostać astronauta.
Przez 3 lata pracował w Radiu RDC i Radiu Trójce gdzie miał swój codzienny program "Kevin Sam W Polsce", w którym w zabawny sposób uczył j, angielskiego. W telewizyjnej dwójce prowadził „Euroquiz” wraz z Maciejem Dowborem. Zagrał strażaka Sama w serialu „Na Dobre i Na Złe” i Richard'a Peacock'a w serialu „ul. Codzienna 2m.3”. Nadal możemy go oglądać w „Pytaniu na śniadanie”.
ENGLISH VERSION
Kevin Aiston.
Born 25th May, 1969 in Chelsea, London. As a child, he dreamed of becoming an astronaut for NASA and wrote to them when he was 10 years old. He promptly received a reply from NASA inviting him to write once again when he finishes school. In Great Britain, he completed college, leaving as an Industrial Chemist specializing in noble metals. He gained employ in BBC London as an assistant photographer posted in Paris for a year. (So much for chemistry!) He also signed up and received an invitation to commence training and selection for the London Fire Brigade.
However, in 1991, he came to Poland with the intention of merely visiting the country, but found to his amazement a nation of people like-minded to himself. Even though Kevin is not a Polish citizen and still holds a full British passport, he has the Polish Eagle and Flag tattooed on his right arm as a “wedding ring” to Poland, as he says. His first employ in Poland was an English teacher, and later, established a highly successful translating agency, The English Office, with his best friend, Brian Goode. His adventures with the Polish media began 6 years ago, when a casting director invited him to take part in three episodes of a newly-launched television programme, Europa Da Sie Lubic (Loosely translated: Europe Is OK), which, as it turned out, Kevin became a constant part of the programme, which ran twice a week for 6 years. Two years later, he was offered a position in the largest Polish radio station, Polish Radio 3, to think up and write scripts for his own daily radio show. The show was so popular, that Polish Radio 3 increased the transmissions to two shows daily, which ran very successfully for over three years. His television “telegraphy” covers hosting a quiz show, which ran also successfully for two years. He was offered and duly accepted a first-role part in a sit-com called „Na Dobre i Na Zle” (the English equivalent of “Casualty”), in which he played a firefighter, and used the programme to show the Polish viewers what exactly a firefighter really does, when called out. Later, he was offered another first-role part in a comedy sit-com, ul. Codzienna 2 m.3” (Number 2, Everyday Street, Flat 3), where he played an English teacher. We can still watch Kevin on the screen, where he occasionally hosts a TV Breakfast programme, Pytanie Na Śniadanie” (A Question at Breakfast Time). In 2005, he published his first English teaching book, a calendar to be exact, entitled, “Rok z Kevinem” (A Year with Kevin in English). In 2007, he published his second English teaching book, „Angielski z Kevinem” (English with Kevin), which was a huge success maintaining the first position in Polish bestsellers for three months. For the last two years, with the full backing of his Station Commander, he has been touring Poland with his own stand-up comedy act, entertaining Poles also around the whole of Europe. To-date, other places where Kevin has appeared with his stand-up gig is London, UK; Oslo, Norway; Zurich, Switzerland and recently in Nuremburg, Germany. Due to all the above, Kevin is a well-sought after personality, who is constantly invited to all the talk-shows in Poland and has appeared in a few in Germany and the UK. He has also appeared in the Michael Palin’s series, “New Europe” and, in turn, invited Michael to appear on his show in Poland, which Michael readily accepted. It was due to this programme, that Kevin received an invite from his most-favourite comedian in Great Britain, Lee Evans, which Kevin is sure to accept and go over to the UK to personally meet Lee Evans, which is a dream of his. Recently, Kevin publish his third book, a cookery one to be exact, as cookery and kitchen adventures are his passion. Later, National Geographic got in touch with him and asked him to be a co-author of their European Cookery Book, Ugryz Świat (Bite The World). Of course, Kevin accepted. It seems that writing books has become one of Kevin’s favourite pastimes, as he is now writing a Polish-English Dictionary for the Deaf. (He also signs in Polish).
His television, radio and stand-up comedy shows were appreciated so much by the Poles, that in 2004, he won the highly prestigious Polish Television Academy Award, (In Polish, this is called “Telekamera 2004”) as Entertainer of the Year 2004.
Presently, he co-hosts a TV programme for children "Ziarno" in which he is a fire-fighter, who helps and teaches children (and sometimes adults :-) of all ages fire prevention and fire safety.
Due to the fact, that he, himself, was bought up in a children’s home, he is constantly present and offering help and assistance to children around the whole of Poland, who are living in children’s homes. He is also the Ambassador for Helping Children with the organization, Caritas, and never turns down an invitation to visit such children, wherever they are..
Privately, he has managed to fulfill his childhood dreams of being an active firefighter....and a pretty good one at that. He has been decorated four times for his actions in the Polish Fire Brigade and is currently a Crew Commander in Radzymin, where he serves. He is also a full Member of the Board of Polish Firefighters as well as a Member of Fire Chiefs and Commanders in Washington DC, USA. At present, he is also the Ambassador for the Fire Kills Campaign all around Great Britain liasing between the British and Polish Fire Services. He has also found the love of his life in his adopted town of Radzymin, Marianna. He has a daughter, Chelsea, who will, undoubtedly, follow in their father’s footsteps, as she is already showing signs of doing, and become a firefighter herself. |
